Top actress, Leslie Ash, who is still recovering from MSSA that she contracted whilst in a London hospital and which nearly left her paralysed, has been prompted to form a company to market a new anti-bacterial hand wash range named MATRON.

FACT: Matron, the range of bio-disinfectant hand gels, sprays and liquid washes developed by Leslie Ash, kills the bacteria that can cause MRSA and MSSA.

It’s a reassuring fact that seemed, to many consumers; that MATRON BIO-HAND WASH GEL seemed too good to be true at an affordable price and so they turned to trusted consumer programme BBC Watchdog for confirmation.

Watchdog’s investigation into Matron Bio-Hand Gel found that Matron Bio-Hand Wash Gel did indeed KILL the bacteria that can cause MRSA and MSSA.

The confusion in consumers’ minds centred on whether Matron was a prevention or a cure for the disease MRSA. Even though the Matron Bio-Hand Wash Gel clearly states “External use only, not a treatment”

It is hoped that this new initiative from MATRON and Leslie Ash, will help consumers to prevent the spread of MRSA and MSSA in and outside of Hospitals, by taking responsibility for their own and their family’s personal hygiene.

The BMA report on HCAI (Hospital Care Acquired Infection Feb 2006) released this week, re-emphasises the need for all Nursing Staff, Patients and Visitors alike to pay particular attention to hand Hygiene to stop the spread of harmful bacteria in the fight against infection

Watchdog’s Nicky Campbell also confirmed that Matron “‘smells quite nice and does not dry your hands out” A major USP of the product.


New products are also in development and will be added to the range at a later date.
